These are the terms you agree to when you use Cord. We've tried to write them in plain English. If anything here is unclear, email info@cordai.dev and we'll explain, or change the wording.
What Cord is
Cord is a community operating system: a place where leaders run their communities (gatherings, members, signals, notes) and where members have a private space to think out loud with an AI assistant that's grounded in their community's context.
Cord is currently in beta. That means we ship fast, occasionally break things, and rely on you telling us when something feels off. We aim for production-grade reliability but can't promise zero downtime.
Your account
- You agree to provide accurate information at sign-up and to keep your contact details current.
- You're responsible for what happens under your account. Don't share your login.
- You must be at least 18 years old to use Cord.
What you can and can't do here
You agree not to:
- Use Cord to harass, threaten, or discriminate against another member.
- Upload or share content you don't have the right to share.
- Try to break, probe, or reverse-engineer Cord's systems, except for security research you've coordinated with us first.
- Build a competing AI model by scraping Cord's outputs.
- Use Cord to send unsolicited mass messages (spam) inside or outside the platform.
We may suspend or remove access to any account that violates these rules. We'll tell you why if we do.
What members post
Some parts of Cord let you post where other members can see it. A message in an event thread is one. Anything you post to a space is visible to everyone in that space.
When you post a photo, you are telling us two things. You have the right to post it. And the people in it are good with it being seen by your space. If someone in a photo asks you to take it down, take it down.
If a photo of you is on Cord and you are not a member, write to info@cordai.dev and we will take it down. You do not need an account to ask.
No tolerance for objectionable content or abusive members
By using Cord you agree not to post content that is objectionable, and not to behave abusively toward another member. There is no tolerance for either one on Cord.
That means none of the following, anywhere on Cord:
- Harassment, bullying, threats, or stalking of another person.
- Hate speech, or content that attacks or demeans people for who they are.
- Sexual content, nudity, or any sexual content involving a minor.
- Content that depicts or encourages violence, or that encourages self-harm.
- Content that is illegal, or that promotes illegal activity.
- Impersonating another person, or posting someone else's private information.
- Spam, scams, or bulk unsolicited messages.
- Content you do not have the right to post.
Members who post objectionable content or behave abusively have their content removed and can have their account suspended or ended, without notice and without a refund. Accepting these terms is a condition of using Cord.
Reporting, review, and removal
Every message and photo on Cord can be reported from the item itself, and every member can be blocked.
When you report something, it is hidden immediately. That happens automatically, within seconds, before anyone at Cord has looked at it, and it stays hidden while it is reviewed.
A person at Cord reviews every report and then either confirms the removal or puts the content back. We work through reports in the order they arrive and we get to them as quickly as we can. We do not name a fixed review time, because we would rather tell you what we actually do than promise a clock. The immediate hiding is the part that protects you, and that part happens every time.
If your content is hidden you can still see it, and you will be told it is under review. If a review puts it back, it returns to the same place it was.
You can reach us about anything on this page at info@cordai.dev.
Your content stays yours
The things you write, your conversations with Cord, your notes, your messages, are yours. We hold them on your behalf, we don't claim ownership, and we don't use them to train AI models. You can take them with you or delete them at any time.
You do grant us the limited right to store, transmit, and process your content as needed to provide the service, for example, sending your Ask Cord message to Anthropic to generate a reply.
When you post something where other members can see it, that permission also covers showing it to them, and keeping the copies and backups needed to run the service. It lasts while the content is up and ends when you take it down or delete your account. It does not let us sell your content, license it to anyone else, or use it to train AI models.
Where content has been reported, we keep a record of the report and a copy of what was reported, so a review decision holds up and a pattern of behavior does not disappear when an account does.
Copyright
If you believe something on Cord copies your work, tell us and we will act on it. Send us your name and contact details, a description of the work, where on Cord you saw it, a statement that you believe in good faith that the use was not authorized, a statement that the information you have given is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized to act for them, and your signature.
Send it to info@cordai.dev. If you believe your content was removed by mistake, you can send us a counter notice with the same details and we will pass it on. Accounts that repeatedly post other people's work are ended.
Payments and subscriptions
Paid plans are billed through Stripe. By starting a subscription you authorize Cord to charge the listed price to your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.
- You can cancel any time from your billing settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- We don't offer prorated refunds for partial periods, but if something has gone sideways, email us and we'll make it right.
- Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice for existing subscribers.
Beta-stage caveats
- Features may change, get renamed, or be removed.
- Cord's AI responses are generated and can be wrong. Treat them as starting points, not final advice, especially for legal, financial, or medical matters.
- We may need to migrate or restore data in rare cases. We'll always tell you when we do.
Termination
You can stop using Cord and delete your account at any time, no paperwork required. We may end or suspend your access if you materially violate these terms; if we do, we'll tell you what went wrong and (where possible) give you a chance to fix it.
Liability
Cord is provided "as is." We do our best to keep it reliable, but to the maximum extent permitted by law, Cord AI is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability in any given 12-month period is capped at the amount you paid us during that period.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA. Any dispute we can't resolve over email will be settled in the courts of Fulton County, Georgia.
Changes to these terms
If we change anything material, we'll email everyone with an account at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of Cord after that means you accept the updated terms.
